Licenses NOT out of stock at CLC bio
Yesterday, we published a story that our licenses had run out of stock due to overwhelming demand. That was an April Fools’ prank - we have our own license generator and no Russian entities are involved in that process...
However, the press release did contain a true statement, as we indeed have experienced an overwhelming interest in our solutions!
CEO of CLC bio, Thomas Knudsen, states,
In 2008 we doubled our sales, compared to 2007, so seeing that trend continuing in the first quarter of 2009, has been a pleasant experience - especially with the general economic climate taken into consideration. There is no doubt that our Next Generation Sequencing solutions really have hit home with the scientific community and we’re of course very pleased to be in such a position and hope to continue on the same path throughout the year.

Playing an April Fools’ prank is an integrated part of Danish culture, and here virtually all companies and medias participate - even the Danish army plays a prank every year. We were very happy to see a couple of the large medias in the biomedical area playing along with the fun, relaying our message and hopefully bringing broad smiles to a lot of readers’ faces!

Licenses out of Stock at CLC bio
Aarhus Denmark -- Due to a general increase in sales and especially overwhelming sales of CLC Genomics Workbench for analyzing and visualizing Next Generation Sequencing data, CLC bio must regrettably announce that new customers can't get their licenses without delay, as it was usually the case.
Vice President of CLC bio, Jan Lomholdt, states
Originally we chose a Russian license supplier - Глупая Фабрика (St. Petersburg) - because the Cyrillic alphabet would ensure an extra level of encryption, and thereby be harder to bypass by people with sinister intentions. Things have been working smoothly up to this date, with an adequate number of licenses to meet demands. If we had anticipated this situation, we would of course have increased our inventory. It's an unfortunate situation, but our Russian license supplier is working around the clock right now in order to have a new batch of licenses ready to be flown to Aarhus - hopefully within this week.
CLC bio would like to apologize for any inconvenience this situation potentially creates, and offers affected customers an extra 5% discount until the situation has been remedied.
