One million scientists can't be wrong
This time 3 years ago we have had our free software for basic bioinformatics out in 4 months and had roughly 5 000 downloads total. And minutes ago today, Monday November 10th, we surpassed a major milestone with one million downloads!
As people tend to stick with our software and update frequently, one million downloads of course doesn't correspond to one million active users. Currently we're pushing 100 000 users, which is also quite impressive - at least we think so, given our company was started in January of 2005.
To share a couple of other numbers, we have now sold bioinformatics solutions to slightly less than 500 different organizations in 43 countries, up from 1 sale in 1 country, back in 2005.
Will it take another 3 years to reach 2 million downloads? When will we hit 200 000 users - or our 1000th customer? We'll see!
