On-line GenBank searching
All CLC bio's workbenches include a GenBank search function (search in the NCBI Entrez database) that is accessible directly from the program through the internet.
Some features are:
- Search in GenBank's nucleotide database
- Search in GenBank's protein database
- Selection between one or more of the following search parameters:
- Title
- Organism
- Gene Location
- Modified Since
- All Fields
- Search on type of molecule (not for protein searches)
- Searches are carried out as a background processes, ensuring that other work can be done while searching.
- In order to ensure speed of work, searches are carried out in a two-step process:
- All search results are initially shown as a list of hits satisfying the chosen search criteria
- Relevant search hits can be selected and downloaded to the program using an intuitive drag-and-drop function
