DNA to Protein translation
The translation of nucleotide sequences to a proteins includes a wide range of options. Translation tables are frequently updated from NCBI.
The options include:
- Choice between all six reading frames as the starting point of the translation
- Choice of more than one reading frame as starting point, resulting in multiple translations made at a time
- Choice of more than one sequence to be translated at a time, resulting in multiple translations made at a time
- Choice between all genetic code translation tables
Translation tables are frequently updated from NCBI, and can be seen in the Help-menu.
Easy translation of part of a nucleotide sequence
It is possible to make separate translations of all the coding regions of a nucleotide sequence. This is done by simply selecting the "Translate CDS and ORF" in the translation dialog.
If the sequence-annotation contains information about the translation, this information will be used automatically, and the translation table to be used does therefore not need to be selected manually.
